Upland is a gateway city to the Inland Empire, located on the western boundary of San Bernardino County.  It sits at the base of the San Gabriel mountains and with Ontario to the South, Rancho Cucamonga to the East and Claremont to the West. Upland is just 36 miles east of Los Angeles.

It is a small bedroom community with a population of approximately 77,000.

The city features an historic downtown area that offers entertainment venues, dining, and unique shops.  This is where you will find Upland’s  Civic Center and Cooper Museum.  The revitalization program in this area provides financial assistance for renovation of Residential and Commercial properties.

Upland was once a part of Ontario and was known as North Ontario.  The name Upland came from the local Upland Citrus Association and in 1906 Upland annexed from Ontario and incorporated as its own city. 

Like much of the IE, Upland has what is called a Mediterranean climate with hot, arid summers and mild winters. 

Upland has two primary freeways in the city, the Interstate 10 to the South that runs East/West along the border of Ontario and the 210 freeway which also runs East/West at the Northern part of the city. The San Bernardino Metro Link also runs through the city, making commuting into LA more convenient.

Schools in the area are served primarily by the Upland Unified School District and Chaffey Joint Union High School District.  There are 14 public schools that serve the local students.

As of 2021, the average household income for Upland is $97,589 and the top local employers include San Antonio Community Hospital, Upland Unified School District, The Home Depot, Upland Rehabilitation and Care Center and Walmart.

Per Realtor.com the median listing home price as of October 2021 was $699,900.  Popular neighborhoods include The Colonies and Upland Hills Country Club.
