The City of Redlands

Redlands is a charming and historical city in San Bernardino County. It is located at the bottom of the San Bernardino mountains and is a main stop for travelers as they head up to Big Bear City and Lake. Los Angeles is just 63 miles away.

The city was incorporated in November of 1888. In 1914, the Pacific Electric railway ran an interurban line from Los Angeles to Redlands which was its destination.  The city maintains a historical main street and has many historic buildings including  the A.K. Smiley Public Library, the Redlands Bowl, the Morey Mansion and The Kimberly Crest House and Gardens.

Like many of the communities throughout the Inland Empire Redlands has a history in citrus farming and in the 1030s was the center hub of the largest navel orange producing region in the world.

In the late 1900’s the citrus groves were replaced by subdivisions. The city, as of 2019, has an estimated population of 71,198.

Housing is robust as of December of 2021 and the Median Sold Home Price per Realtor.com is $550,000.  Per the U.S. census, Median Household Income was projected at $74,839 for 2019.  The top employers in the area are ESRI, Redlands Unified School District, Redlands Community Hospital, Beaver Medical Group, and the University of Redlands.

The Redlands Unified School District oversees sixteen elementary schools, four middle schools and three high schools.
