The city of Montclair is a medium-sized community located in the West Valley area of San Bernardino County.  It is neighbored by the cities of Pomona to the West, Ontario to the East and Claremont & Upland to the North and Chino to the south.  The 10 freeway runs through the north side of the city and connects to the city of Los Angeles just 35 miles away. 

The city was known as Monte Vista in the 1950s but due to a Northern California town with the same name, the members of the city voted in the new name of Montclair in 1958. 

In 1968 Montclair Plaza, now known as Montclair Place, was built and became one of the most successful shopping centers in Southern California bringing in shoppers from LA, Orange County, and the Inland Empire.

Following World War II, the rural community of Montclair saw considerable growth and the population of Montclair as of 2019 is just over 39,000.  Homeownership is almost 54% and the median household income is $62,024.  Major industries include retail, healthcare and social assistance, and manufacturing.
