City of Wildomar

The city of Wildomar is in the southern region of Riverside County.  It is off Hwy 15 just north of Menifee and south of Lake Elsinore. The community is about 24 square miles and is a mixture of both urban and rural.

In the late 1800s Wildomar which was coined after its founders William Collier, Donald Graham and Margaret Collier Graham The area was once an outpost of the pony express and then later an important stop for the Southern California Railroad.  . The railroad tracks were eventually washed out due to heavy rains and the community quieted down to farm and ranch lands.

However, in the 1980’s the I-15 corridor was completed which led to considerable growth in Wildomar and surrounding communities of Lake Elsinore, Menifee and Temecula.

As of 2019 the population was over 37,000 which was an increase of 164% from the year 2000. The city is 97% urban, but it still retains 3% of rural lands.  Despite the growth the city is committed to continue a hometown feel.

The household median income as of 2019 was nearly $82,000. The top employers as of 2019 were Construction, Education, Healthcare, Accommodations and Food Service and Professional, Scientific, and Technical.

The summers offer warm, arid days and the winters tend to be cold and cloudy. The temperature varies form 41-86 degrees.
