The downtown area is dominated by historical architecture including the infamous Mission Inn, the Riverside Arts Museum and the Fox Performing Arts Center.  Events and conventions can be found at the recently built Riverside Convention Center.

Riverside is also home to several universities including California Baptist University, La Sierra University, Riverside City College and University of California, Riverside.  Popular museums in the area include the California Citrus State Historic Park, The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry, the March Field Air Museum, and UCR California Museum of Photography.
